Our Traffic Control Person course is meant to give individuals the tools and knowledge to be able to safely and effectively direct traffic. Directing traffic is just a part of being a traffic control person though, and participants in this course will also leave with a good understanding of the procedures used to setup and take down traffic control zones that are necessary when dealing with traffic control.

The central objectives for this course is to provide participants with: 

• An understanding of the laws and regulations in action when controlling traffic with control devices or Traffic Control personnel.
• The knowledge to recognize the different types of devices used to direct traffic flow, such as delineators and barriers
• The ability to distinguish between a barrier device, barricade device, or delineator
• The knowledge of when the different types of traffic control devices are required
• Information about how different road conditions and configurations may change the traffic control requirements
• The proper signage that is used before a work zone to warn drivers of the dangers ahead
• The ability to safely and successfully direct traffic using the different control devices as well as the proper traffic control person procedures
• An idea of the different hazards that may occur when directing traffic and how to deal with such events
